These maps are from a reprint of Barclay’s Dictionary, which was first published in the 1770s and has at least twenty-five reprints, with different maps, illustrations and articles in each version. Dating the issue can be tricky as they didn’t have a published date in some of them, but the latest date at the foot of the maps is 1843.
There are thirty-three maps in this volume – Africa, Asia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, England & Wales, Europe, France, German States, Holland & Belgium, Hindoostan (India), Ireland, Italy, Mexico & Guatamala, New South Wales, North America, Persia with Cabool and Baloochistan, Peru & Bolivia, Prussia & Poland, Russia in Europe, Scotland, South America, Spain & Portugal, Sweden & Norway, Switzerland, Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania), Turkey in Asia, Turkey in Europe and Greece and the United States.
